[RESOLVED] time/hwclock issues

Postby jan1973 » Wed Jan 26, 2011 9:54 am

I've installed plugboxlinux on my pink pogoplug. Then I installed openntpd. In rc.conf I have set the timezone to Europe/Amsterdam. When I use the command date the time is shown in UTC. As I live in the Netherlands, I'd really like to use my own timezone and don't want to run an hour late.

/etc/localtime is a symbolic link to /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Amsterdam

Can anyone tell me why I don't get the correct time?

Also, when I do a hwclock --debug --systohc I get the error that there is no file/directory called /dev/rtc.

Is this because the pink pogoplug has no realtime clock?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

In my /etc/rc.conf file I have this
Code: Select all
#HARDWARECLOCK="localtime"
TIMEZONE="Europe/London"

Think this matches to a file in /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe
There is no hardware for the rtc

I've solved the problem - somehow I had replaced the /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Amsterdam with a symbolic link to itself. When the proper file was in place the timeproblem was solved. Thanks for your help though.
