out of curiosity I just did. Same issue.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'A newer kernel is required to run this binary. (__kernel_cmpxchg64 helper)')

Thanks Karog for uploading mysql-5.5.24-1.tar.gz (And, of course, thanks WarHeadSE for making this possible for all of us). After successfully installing mysql-5.5.24-1.tar.gz with 'pacman -U *.pkg.tar.xz', I still was unable to 'rc.d start mysqld && mysql_secure_installation' due to innoDB memory errors and unknown database errors (that I should have written down so I could include them here). The fix that finally worked for me was to nano /etc/mysql/my.cnf and add these two lines:

innoDB=OFF
default-storage-engine=MyISAM

fyi, I run that version of mysql with innodb without problems. I run it on a pogo v3 with sata disk and 256MB of swap.
