$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('felis', 'I')'ve installed the latest kernel (3.13.2-2), but the new rtl8192cu still doesn't work on my RTL8188RU. Like the 8192cu module, scanning for networks works, but it always fails to connect. I've tried disabling WPA as well, but still no luck.

I've tried multiple distro's now, but it seems that the RTL8188RU just refuses to work.
However, the RTL8188CUS that shares the same driver works flawlessly with either modules.

Been stuck on this for weeks now. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'parm: swenc:Set to 1 for software crypto (default 0)
(bool)
parm: debug:Set debug level (0-5) (default 0) (int)
')

Have you tried swenc=1 and debug=5 to see the errors, if any.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'echo "options rtl8192cu swenc=1 debug=5" > /etc/modprobe.d/8192cu.conf')

Still nope.

I assume with debug=5 the message is output somewhere besides dmesg?
The amount of error outputted is the same for debug=0 and debug=5

On the flipside ...
wifi is now working, but couple of times, I couldn't connect to wifi using the wifi-menu, when this happens, iw dev also hangs the system. Forgot the error message, but as soon as I get it again, I'll post it here

Also couple of things aren't working for me, which makes 3.12.2-3 still unusable for me, like EGL, and gstreamer, ffmpeg (likely gpu driver bug).

RPIGears complains that it cannot create EGL surface.
omxplayer not playing anything, here is the result of omxplayer playing a video that played without errors on 3.10:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
Video codec omx-h264 width 1280 height 720 profile 77 fps 29.970030
Audio codec aac channels 2 samplerate 44100 bitspersample 16
Subtitle count: 0, state: off, index: 1, delay: 0
COMXVideo::Decode timeout
COMXVideo::Decode timeout
COMXVideo::Decode timeout
COMXVideo::Decode timeout
COMXVideo::Decode timeout
COMXVideo::Decode timeout
')

Also, on the boot, I get this error:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[ 0.000000] early_vc_cma_mem(0/0xdc00000@0x11000000)
[ 0.000000] vc_cma: dma_declare_contiguous(dc00000,11000000) failed
[ 1.915175] vc-cma: vc_cma_base = 0x11000000
[ 1.915188] vc-cma: vc_cma_size = 0x00000000 (0 MiB)
[ 1.915200] vc-cma: vc_cma_initial = 0x00000000 (0 MiB)
')

Sometimes on shutdown/reboot, the system hangs, and I have to do cold reboot.
This happens on the following reboot log :
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
Stopping networking for netctl profile wlan0 ...
Stopped networking ...
Removed Slice system.netctl.slice
... hang ...
')

I'm gonna try using the rtlwifi with 3.10 kernel, see if they work and get back to u...
(Edit: It was a silly idea testing 3.13 rtlwifi on 3.10, of course they won't work)

Everything works for me on 3.13. You need to disable dynamic memory split in /boot/config.txt.

I just installed moonmans latest (3.12.2-3) and wondered about the constant led light on my wlan stick (before it was always blinking and indicates traffic). I use the RTL8188CUS chip which needed the 8192cu module and rtl8192cu had to be blacklisted - until now.

With this version "8192cu" has gone and rtl8192cu works fine.

By the way, I never saw a working "iw" command on RPi (nl80211 missing) but this also works now!

Just to give my few cents ;)
Regards, CM.

Disabled cma, and the gpu problems are gone too.

@moonman:
Although I got it working, but I still experience driver halts and stuff like that sometimes, to the point that I have to kill all processes or even reboot the OS.

This happens sometimes when I'm restarting the device and configuring it, like for example after unsuccessful connection, when I try ...
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'ip link set wlan0 down')

On the side note, I'm not using any external power supplies, and getting the power from PC usb, could it be that case ?

freezes are normal on the raspi, especially when writing to sd card. just wait a couple of minutes. It will never run like your home pc

linux-raspberrypi-latest seems to broken omxplayer with the error message "COMXVideo::Decode timeout". But yes my wireless USB works with linux-raspberrypi-latest, but it's range is pretty bad.
