I will mark up PCB picture later today with pin locations and post custom kernel and dmesg output showing second port working.
The pain is I would need to re-compile kernel every time I upgrade. The patch needs to be patched ;) With distcc on Inspiron 4100 under Ubuntu compiling kernel takes awhile  . I am not sure which machine is faster actually.
If we could get jumbo frames working, I might be willing to freeze this setup and just let it stay with 3.0.28. I got samba and twonky 7.2.6-2 working and this is all I need from this box.
I am thinking about buying a whole bunch of these Mobile units and putting a "server farm" together : www, rtorrent , imagevue etc.
It would be a huge upgrade from my all in one wl500gp with 300 bogomips

Re: Connecting eSata multi-bay enclosure to Pogo v4

Postby john3voltas » Sat Feb 01, 2014 1:09 pm

Nice posts, Sergeanter.
Keep it coming. :)

Cheers

PS: BTW could you please let us know how much power that multi-bay enclosure uses? We're already consuming 8Watt on the plug computer. I wouldn't want to buy an enclosure that consumes 5x or 10x that figure ;)

Re: Connecting eSata multi-bay enclosure to Pogo v4

Postby Sergeanter » Wed Feb 05, 2014 7:29 am

The backplane of the Sans Digital 4 bay enclosure draws 10W. With four red WD drives loaded and staying idle consumption becomes 24W. I need to put an exhaust fan to the attic above the closet where I plan to put it. In terms of speed and power draw it is in between my old RAID on Pentium4 and my all in one router with laptop drive. Speed is OK to stream video from it while pulling a few torrents. I have bought another Pogo Mobile for rtorrent and mldonkey.
