SOLVED: Fresh Goflex-Net build no IP address

Hi all,

Having not updated my Goflex-Net for about 9 months, I figured it was easier to just do a fresh build.

The fresh build boots up (solid green light), however the NAS doesn't obtain a DHCP address. I can see no packets on the network requesting a DHCP address (debugging on Cisco router which is DHCP server)

I plugged the USB stick that I use to boot into another box and it looks like netctl is installed and using ETH0 as its default profile. Ive changed it to a static IP address however no go either.

I have this recollection that at some point in time the Ethernet interface changed its name from eth0. Does that ring any bells for anyone? Im thinking that if it has a different interface name maybe netctl isn't bringing it up.

Ive looked on the USB stick for a dump of dmesg or similar however I cant seem to find anything under /var/log/ that might hint as to what is going on.

Unfortunately I cant seem to catch any of the boot sequence using netcat either (think it broke ages ago when I did the uboot upgrade).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Fixed. Needed to complete some parts of this -> viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3355

Will write up an updated set of build instructions for the website in a the next few days

Which website do you write for? Would be interested in how you fixed it. I typed the same commands of viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3355
But with 3.1 kernel there is a kernel panic
with 3.12 systemd does not start

We don't back nor support anyone else instructions, because:
- They tend to get behind/forgotten/etc
- Sometimes they are wrong from the start (yeah, I said it)
- Most times they are just cut and paste from what we have in the first place.
