Boot Armv5 Arch linux usb on a PC

Postby snakepit28 » Sun Aug 30, 2015 9:26 pm

Hi-

I use archlinux on a pogoplug.

However, sometimes it would be nice to plug that install into a laptop and bypass the ssh thing.

I tried to boot from the usb and had no success(which didn't surprise me)

Is that even possible?

Also, do others use say a full version of arch on a PC and then port it and it's custom programs to Armv5?

You can't chroot into it if the architectures don't match. The only possibility in my mind is a virtual machine and then chroot.

You're not going to be able to use the USB from the ALARM on an x86 machine.

What you want to do is either chroot in with the right bits (it is possible, but it won't be a full chroot), or setup a qemu instance. Neither of which I am going be helping you with.

If you only want to edit files, you can do that from any running linux installation that can read the FS on the USB.
