Emulators failing to render

Hello,

I recently acquired a raspberry pi and decided to turn it into an emulator station. However, I'm running into problems with the emulation programs failing to load anything. I've tried loading ROMs through both commandline and gui interfaces, but i am still left with black screens.

This leads me to believe that I'm simply missing key video drivers.

I have mesa and xf86-video-fbdev installed.

Can somebody provide any assistance?
