DHCP

Postby hacktorious » Fri Feb 07, 2014 2:03 am

Hello,

I recently purchased a BeagleBone Black (BBB), which comes pre-installed wtih archlinux.
Linux beaglebone 3.8.13 #1 SMP Wed Sep 4 09:09:32 CEST 2013 armv7l GNU/Linux

I'm attempting to connect the BBB to the internet with the network cable, however, the ip address it is obtaining appears to be from an external network on the internet somewhere.

I would assume that I could just plug the device into a network cable and it would work as any other normal networked connected device by obtaining an ip from my routers dhcp. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this would happen? Thanks.

What IP address is it getting? And perhaps you have a network misconfiguration.
