Shutdown through ssh on raspberry pi

Postby k2000 » Tue Mar 04, 2014 10:52 pm

I have arch linux on my rasberry pi. I access it only via ssh.
When shutting down, either with
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'shutdown -h now')
or
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'shutdown -r now')
or
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'halt')
or
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'reboot')

I don't have any feedback of the shutdown. No "shuting down NOW" message. The ssh session just hang there not responding to anything.

I think I should have a message indicating that the PI is actually shutting down (or rebooting), and my ssh session should "disconnect itselft" instead of hanging there not responding.

Any idea?

When you reboot or shutdown your raspberry pi, it disconnects from the network. Isn't it logical that ssh session breaks?

It's hit or miss between devices, or even on same devices, or even on the same device, whether this happens.
The correct commands are reboot and poweroff btw
