You're assuming that things are automatically a desktop off the bat. Few boards are configured to be this way out of the box, and the RPi is a "speshul" case.

The CB2 is a device that does have an HDMI port, but might need a few things configured.

You have stated the kernel version, which is not a "version" of Arch in any way, but a package. There indeed has been an update to the kernel, and to u-boot. These things may require that you verify your /boot partition was mounted at the time of the package install.

From your SSH session, check:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
$ uname -a
$ pacman -Qi linux-sunxi
')

If these two do not match, ensure that your boot partition is mounted, and re-install the kernel package.
