Getting Archlinux onto the BeagleBone Black

Postby cverster » Mon May 26, 2014 8:54 am

I use this set of instructions to flash the Archlinux image onto a SD card using Ubuntu. NOTE: I often times have to use sudo as permission to read/write /dev files are protected. Then, I insert the SD card into the Beaglebone Black, hold down the button to flash SD contents onto the eMMC and apply power. Now, the SD content DO NOT flash to the eMMC. I can boot from the SD card, but I cannot get its contents onto the eMMC.

My best guess is that the permissions on the file system loaded onto the SD card is wrong, because I had to use sudo to when doing the mount and copying commands etc. Is that possible? How do I fix it? Or does someone know of another problem that I'm missing here?

You should be making the SD card from sudo su, or as root. Period. And that doesn't make it flash to the SD card, it should boot to the SD, then you can install to the eMMC. Which board revision is this?
