U-boot fails to install

Postby LiquidAurum » Mon Nov 10, 2014 7:25 pm

I am installing it on a flash drive from an arch VM. And when I enter the $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pogo_e02.sh') it says Failed to install U-Boot. DO not Reboot

Is the flash drive plugged into the pogoplug? or is it plugged into a pc?
If its plugged into a pc, then its trying to install uboot on the PC.

Uboot, is not installed on the flash drive. uboot is installed into the boot firmware on the Pogoplug.
You can install and extract the filesystem onto the flashdrive, but you still need to follow the install instructions ON THE POGOPLUG, in order for it to work.
My suggestion to you is to follow the instructions as written. Then if you have a problem, how to fix it can easily be determined.

The reason I was installing this on a PC is because I am still trying to get my hardware pogoplug to work. For some reason (and this is happening with ~4 of of them now, yes 4!!! When plugged into power the LED doesn't trun on, however one of them at the very least does blink but it stays blinking yellow. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks :)

I've had a couple of pogoplugs that had the power connector come loose of the circuit board. I would open them up and see if the power connector is connected properly. Unplugging from the plug end often can cause this.
For the flashing light one, is it connected to the Internet? Does it get an IP address on your router?

Hmm, I'll try to open it up. AS far as blinking/DHCP. It's connected to the same switch that my computer is. Now when I look at the back. It has the green led blinking for the ethernet port (orange is not blinking). The green blinking led on ethernet is happening on the one the other one that doesn't have any led on the front. Which now that I think about it, leads me to believe I don't think there is a power problem since the ethernet led is blinking

In order to help, we need to know if its getting an IP address from your router. If it is, then you should be able to SSH in and do something. If its not, then I would consider calling Pogoplug. Are these "stock" plugs? or were they booting arch before?

They were booting to arch before, I don't believe they are getting an IP address

Do you know which model of Pogoplug they are?
The V2 units will still boot into pogo OS and will show LED lights when booting.
The V3/PPro units won't boot without a drive with a good rootfs.
My guess is that you have one V2 unit, and its probably getting an IP address ( the one with the yellow flashing light).
The Uboot has changed, so it would need to have a reinstall done.
The other 3, could be V3 style units, they don't light up, and they won't boot without a proper rootfs attached.

FWIW, some flashdrives just aren't good enough for booting a pogoplug.

Can you read the model number of the plug off the sticker on the bottom?
