OK, I installed transmission-cli, and had the 3 Pi downloads going.
Everything fine for a while, 150+ clients connected, no panic but log as lots of these
Jun 9 14:42:55 alarmpi kernel: smsc95xx 1-1.1:1.0: eth0: kevent 2 may have been dropped
Added these to sysctl.conf as per kernel messages
net.core.rmem_max = 4194304
net.core.wmem_max = 1048576
It's the same, search google for
Code: Select all
site:raspberrypi.org "may have been dropped"

Did you used an external hd or usb pen drive?

I think if I download directly do sd card the problem doesn't happen, so it's a bit different.

edit: how about total download speed? how many KB/s were you getting?
did does changes in sysctl.conf solved the problem?

I checked now the /var/log/everythong (didn't remember to look at that earlier), and saw those indications of transmission. Changed the sysctl.conf to add those but still got the panic

Think this fixes it, no unwanted messages in logs
Code: Select all
My /boot/cmdline.txt check your rootfstype and root
smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 loglevel=2 root=/dev/sda1 rootfstype=ext3 rootwait

Then reboot
Can you verify it fixes, please?

My cmdline.txt was
Code: Select all
smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N dwc_otg.dma_enable=1 dwc_otg.dma_burst_size=256 dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 dwc_otg.dma_enable=1 console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 loglevel=2 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 rootwait

I adapted your to mey rootfs and now is
Code: Select all
smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 loglevel=2 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 rootwait

Testing now, and will report as soon as possible:)

 Jun  9 18:16:47 berry kernel: usb 1-1.3: reset high speed USB device number 5 using dwc_otg

I trashed and download all 3 at the same time in 10 minutes.
Can you format an reinstall easily? I think it's generally admitted there are still problems in the kernel. Don't know why mine is ok, only the cmdline setting changed

I think my rpi can take 10 mins period, but it crashes around ~15/20 (it depends).

If you try to download something bigger that can take a few hours, that would probably fail too.

Yeah, sure I can format if you think it might help.. and I can always backup my sd card with dd.

edit:

just tested it now. Got a panic after 28 minutes of downloading torrents with transmission. The speed indicated by the web interface was 279kb/s (it was actually slow..).
The cpu load pointed by htop is 50.9%, and using 52MB of RAM.
