avr-binutils 2.34.2 - broken (binutils 2.34 required)

Postby celogeek » Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:50 pm

avr-ld is broken

Additional info:
* package version(s)
2.34-2

Steps to reproduce:

I have upgrade avr on arch arm linux.

Here the ldd:
ldd /usr/bin/avr-ld
linux-vdso.so.1 (0x7ee89000)
libbfd-2.34.so => /usr/armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/avr/lib/libbfd-2.34.so (0x76dfc000)
libctf.so.0 => not found
libdl.so.2 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.2 (0x76dd9000)
libc.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc.so.6 (0x76c8a000)
/lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3 => /usr/lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3 (0x76f2d000)

On arm binutils version is:
2.33.1-2
https://archlinuxarm.org/packages/arm/binutils

And this version does not contain libctf.so.0

This post has been out here for 10 days so I just let them know about the issue on irc as well.

For anyone else facing this package out sync problem you can easily downgrade to your previous avr-binutils by doing:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/avr-binutils-2.33.1-1-armv6h.pkg.tar.xz')

To get your previous version just look in /var/cache/pacman/pkg

The issue is that binutils 2.34 is not available on ARM platform. We still have the 2.33.

I have check the package, it seems to have a release log but not sync on the mirrors.

The binutils contains this on 2.34:

arch=(x86_64)

This prevents installing it on arm platform

I have tried to download the PKGBUILD + patches and fix this, but the patches failed to apply.

So for now avr-ld is just broken.
