libpcap upgrade breaks arp-scan

Postby ygator » Wed Dec 04, 2013 9:06 pm

Just upgraded and arp-scan no longer works. Looking at dependencies I found it was libpcap.
This is on a Dockstar. It still works on a x86_64.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'upgraded libpcap (1.4.0-1 -> 1.5.1-1)
arp-scan -l
ioctl: No such device

Running 'pacman -U libpcap-1.4.0-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz'
downgraded libpcap (1.5.1-1 -> 1.4.0-1)

arp-scan -l
Interface: eth0, datalink type: EN10MB (Ethernet)
Starting arp-scan 1.9 with 256 hosts (http://www.nta-monitor.com/tools/arp-scan/)
...
')

Which kernel?

Maybe try linux-kirkwood, if your uboot allows

Yes, I know. I was not aware there was more than one kernel out there to try.
I have just installed it on one of my dockstars.
Linux alarm 3.12.2-1-ARCH #1 PREEMPT Fri Nov 29 22:03:42 CST 2013 armv5tel GNU/Linux
arp-scan does work with it.

Are there any other packages I need to change over as well as installing it only removed Linux and added Linux-Kirkwood.
I see there is Linux-headers-Kirkwood, but when I try to install I get:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@alarm ~]# pacman -S linux-headers-kirkwood
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/pacman-4.1.2-4/desc: No such file or directory
:: linux-headers-kirkwood and linux-headers are in conflict (kernel26-headers). Remove linux-headers? [y/N]
')Is it okay to ignore the error?

What other benefits are their to this kernel other than being newer?

The error was nothing.

For some reason when you run a dockstar from a flash drive and even though it was always properly shutdown the drive ends up with errors.
