[Thunderbird] Lightning in ARM Chromebook

Postby jacobopantoja » Mon Nov 24, 2014 7:17 pm

Dears,

I have seen in [1] that there were problems with Lightning extension in ARM Chromebook, but apparently those problems were solved. The PKGBUILD itself seems to have the relevant options enabled still.

But I am trying to use the extension in my ARM Chromebook (snow), and then calendars and tasks features seem to be broken (I can see the calendar, but I cannot add events, I cannot add calendars, etc), with some ugly errors on the Thunderbird Error Console.

Is there anyone having similar problems? From [2], it may be a problem of binary components in the extension (the files included in the extension seem to be x86 only), but perhaps there is a better clue. My educated guess is that this problem is not limited to Samsung Chromebook Snow.

Thank you all for your time,
JPantoja

Ok, silly me. The problem seems to be that the extension itself (xpi file) is not packaged in the ALARM Thunderbird package. I'm trying to compile myself and confirm it.

Yeah, the compilation with the current PKGBUILD and patches *does* generate the lightning.xpi file, which I can install in Thunderbird and runs properly.

It is a matter of including in the PKGBUILD the installation of the file, or (perhaps better) to generate another package with the xpi extension (I don't know how to do that, though). I will be investigating this. May I have some help from developers?

Best regards,
