[feature] rng-tools better default RPi config

Postby skinkie » Fri Jul 24, 2020 10:04 pm

After the trouble with haveng crashing and coredumping, I have switched to rngd. I noticed that the default options for the RPi could likely use some sane defaults given that the hardware number generator is available, and it just does not make sense that the average user is not trusting is. I would suggest something in the following direction.

/etc/conf.d/rngd
RNGD_OPTS="-x tpm -x jitter -x nist -x pkcs11 -x rtlsdr"

rng-tools trickles down to us from upstream and is built without any changes. You may want to take this up with them

Isn't this a specific device configuration (hence: build a package that behaves well on a specific device)?

It is not. If this config is specific to RPi, you can put it in the wiki.
