kodi-rpi 19.1-4 crackling audio

I found an old pair of headphones and plugged them into the jack. I don't see a corresponding option for audio output directed out that jack.

I can confirm the audio crackle. Since disabling HW accel decoding reverses the crackle (tested by you, I did not verify), that points to something in the gbm_matrix branch by popcornmix as causing it. Recommend you open a post on the kodi forum mentioning that you are using popcornmix's gbm_matrix branch and use the @popcornmix tag in your post so he gets a ping.

I reported on kodi forum that audio_pwm_mode=1 did the trick but unfortunately there's another problem introduced with this setting. On my test setup (analog speaker connected to jack) I reported a constant noise which I suspected to be in the high volume setting of the speaker. I updated my daughter's Pi yesterday and thought it was ok then. Today she complained about a loud hissing sound comming out of the speaker (another type then my test speaker) and I can confirm that putting her speaker on my test setup indeed produces a loud hissing sound. So I took a good quality headphone and connected it and there's also this loud hissing sound. So I tested with a cheap speaker apparently which cuts of the high frequencies and thus masking the hissing sound.

Can you please test again to confirm this before I report this back to kodi forum?

If you confirmed the behavior on 2 separate boxes, no real point in me doing it on a third.
