[kernel 5.19.8] problems with Odroid XU4/MC1/HC1/HC2...

Postby renegat » Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:26 pm

The latest kernel 5.19.8 has serveral issues on Odroid devices based on Samsung Exynos5422:

- SSH / network not working
- USB3 not working: endless messages:
'usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci-hcd'

- USB2 issues if device connected:
'usb 2-1: reset full-speed USB device number 2 using exynos-ohci'

- coredumps

These messages flood the prompt on every tty making it hard to do further research.

- cannot login: unreadable message vanishes too fast to be read (kernel 5.19.7 and 5.19.6 also affected by this!!)
Workaround: try to login with nonsense like user: 'bla' passwd: 'bla' - wait for 'Login incorrect' than login with root and pwd will work.

See attached file (journal from xu4 with 5.19.8 kernel) -> does not seem to work

The issue reported two weeks ago is still present.
No feedback, no response or reaction on bug report.

The affected unusable kernel 5.19.8 is still installed when calling pacman -Syu :(

Great fun when dealiing with headless systems like odroid HC1/2 or MC1 as network / ssh is not working anymore with this kernel.

BTW: x86 kernel is meanwhile at 5.19.12

Hint: You can stop the error messages flooding tty input if you manage to type

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
sysctl -w kernel.printk="2 4 1 7"
')

fast enough after / if you've managed to log in.
