[solved][kodi-rpi] new libxml2-legacy dependency ?

Hello

After recent update, kodi-rpi doesn't start anymore.
It is missing library libxml2.so.2
It might be after having upgraded libxml2 (2.13.8-1 -> 2.14.2-2).

Anyway, now libxml2.so.2 seems to be provided by libxml2-legacy.

I don't know if it was expected.
Should kodi-rpi have a dependency to libxml2-legacy ? I am wondering because it didn't have one to libxml2 in the first place.

Maybe this issue is actually somewhere else.

I wonder if the report at archlinuxarm.org/forum', 'viewtopic.php?f=15&t=17254 is related? Is it possible to install both libxml2 and libxml2 legacy or will that break things?

Just needs a rebuild against libxml2 which is queued now.

I did yesterday and so far no issues with it and mpv as it had issues also. I tried to rebuild mpv and it would not build because it was looking for libxml2.so.2 specificially.

Great. Hopefully the new build of libxml2 will be in the repos soon.

I came across this arch linux forum post:

so, discovering that my system did indeed have a package called 'rest' installed, and then doing:
pacman -R rest
checking dependencies...

Packages (1) rest-0.8.1+r4+ge5ee6ef-1

Total Removed Size: 0.82 MiB

which removed the package 'rest' without issue, then updating with pacman -Syu succeeded just fine with the libxml2 package version 2.14.2-2 and rebooted to the newly updated kernel without any problem. So libxml didn't need rebuilding, but removing the package called 'rest' that I thought was not needed, was the solution for me - presumably that package was part of the original install.

Can you check on the kodi-rpi rebuild? It's not out yet, but the recent update for linux-rpi 6.12.28-1 is already out.

There is a build failure and I need to track down the cause.
EDIT: it seems to be the external taglib. I am investigating.
