mutt / neomutt missing dependencies

Postby ala-lot » Sun Jun 08, 2025 3:44 pm

I currently can't star neomutt:
neomutt: error while loading shared libraries: libgpgme.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
And when trying to install mutt:
warning: cannot resolve "libgpgme.so=11-64", a dependency of "mutt"
Do they need to be recompiled against libgpgme 2.x ?

There seems to be a number of programs with the issue. I am not sure if they need a rebuild or libgpgme and libgpgmepp is missing some links to it's main lib version in the new package. Adding the links seems to help.

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libgpgme.so.11.33.2 /usr/lib/libgpgme.so.11
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libgpgmepp.so.6.21.3 /usr/lib/libgpmepp.so.6

libgpg.so is at 45.0.0 now, but symlinking it as version 11 does seem to allow (neo)mutt to start.

So I think it would still need a recompile, as all the symlinks for 45 seem okay.

Sorry to bump, but the same problem arises for
notmuch
and hence
aerc
. Both work on current ArchLinux X64. Are there any chances the problem will be fixed anytime soon?

Just rebuild yourself: gpgme, gmime3, notmuch, neomutt
