[kodi-c2] Problem in package ?

Postby Tristelune » Wed Feb 22, 2017 6:25 pm

Hello,

I have installed the package kodi-c2 a week ago and the problem, the video is not smooth. I'm not sure the problem is on my system, it is maybe in the package. Short: if I start kodi with root I have no problem, with the alarm user it doesn't work. I had installed kodi 16.1 from AUR and I had no problem. The groups of my user:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[alarm@alarm bin]$ groups
wheel video audio kodi alarm
')

I have found the following in the log of kodi:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
17:41:23.765 T:547596112096 ERROR: AML: no proper permission, please contact the device vendor. Skipping codec...
')

I can send the full log if necessary. I start kodi with the alarm user on my odroid-c2. If I compare the kodi_permissions.conf from kodi 16.1 on AUR (kodi-c2-fb) and from the new package, we have for 16.1:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
m /sys/class/display/mode 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/video/axis 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/video/screen_mode 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/video/disable_video 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/tsync/pts_pcrscr 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/audiodsp/digital_raw 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/audiodsp/digital_codec 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/ppmgr/ppmgr_3d_mode 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/ppmgr/ppscaler 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/ppmgr/ppscaler_rect 0666 root root - -
m /sys/class/ppmgr/disp 0666 root root - -
m /sys/module/di/parameters/bypass_all 0666 root root - -
m /sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fbcon/cursor_blink 0666 root root - -
')

and in the kodi-c2 package:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/mode 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/free_scale 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/free_scale_axis 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/request2XScale 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/scale_width 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb0/scale_height 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb1/blank 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb1/scale_width 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb1/scale_height 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb1/free_scale 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb1/scale 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/graphics/fb1/scale_axis 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/display/mode 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/display/axis 0666 kodi kodi - -
m /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/disp_mode 0666 kodi kodi - -
')

So users and groups are not the same. Perhaps one last thing: kodi don't start at boot, I start it manually.
Do you have an idea where is the problem ?

Thank you!

I tried kodi-c2 last night and ran kodi-standalone.
I runs and performs very quickly. exodus installs successfully.

Big showstopper....I found that the board seems to overheat and then freeze after a few minutes when running kodi.

BTW I don't have xorg or gnome desktop displaying successfully with this board yet. Can anyone point me to a successful setup with odroid-c2? I think it's just a matter of getting the correct display driver for it and configuring both the X.org and gdm for it. It seems there are drivers out there, but I haven't got them to behave correctly for both xorg/gdm. Only kodi-standalone via fb seems to work at the moment.

Thank you.

I have kodi running quite well on my C2 here at home. So it is possible to do.

Some notes, though:

1. Kodi needs to run either as root (not recommended) or as the kodi user. Otherwise, kodi will not have access to all the files it needs.

2. I too had trouble with the package from the official repo. What I did was download the PKGBUILD and then edit it to replace the source with the Owersun repo (https://github.com/Owersun/xbmc, grap the latest commit). I then compiled that on my C2 (which took a couple of hours) and presto: Working kodi.
