crond to cronie

I only discovered this because a new install was different to an old.
crond (was core base, now extra) has been replaced by cronie, even when I twigged this it took awhile to get things how I want, change happened some time ago

Yeah, it did happen a while ago, but I don't argue with what the mothership does to packages. It's far easier to go with their flow than to redefine the distribution the way we might want to, then pick and choose what changes to accept.

I had issues with cronie actually executing scripts. The crond log file says it ran, but it wasn't running a script I had in the cron.hourly directory. I added an echo piped to a log file to the script to monitor if the script was being run and it never fired over a 24 hour period (hourly cron job).

So I installed dcron instead, and now all the cron jobs are running correctly.
