So consensus is that the modified firmware-raspberrypi package works for both RPi3B and Zero-W if I am understanding the replies.

I pushed an update to the package just now. Again, if you have a Zero-W or 3B, once the package hits your mirror, please remove any manual modifications and update your system/reboot and report back.

so, in summary a pacman -Syu will fix all but the Zero. Strange that the same firmware works on the armv7 image, but not on the armv6 image.

My expectation is that once firmware-raspberrypi-20210220-1 hits your repo, updating should fix WIFi for all affected models running either linux-raspberrypi or linux-raspberrypi4. I do not know yet what the solution is for those running linux-aarch64 aside from downgrading to linux-firmware-20201218.646f159-1 at the moment.

Just tried a pacman -Syu and that firmware appeared for armv6. Installed and rebooted and the wifi is back!

@graysky thanks for your efforts!

Which model? Need sign-offs on both RPi3B and Zero.

EDIT: I just created an image running linux-aarch64 not linux-raspberrypi4 for RPi4B and confirmed that WiFi works with an updated system but only if firmware-raspberrypi is also installed.

I just did a full sys upgrade on one of my RPi zero W and WLAN is working! Thanks.

This included firmware-raspberrypi-20210220-1

Just upgraded my second zero W and it is working too!

Confirm the issue is resolved on raspberry pi 4b with linux-firmware 20210208.b79d239-1 and linux-raspberrypi4 5.10.17-1.

Just out of curiosity, but was / is the underlying issue that triggered this regression? If I understand correctly, the problem was resolved by the following two commits to firmware-raspberrypi:

2bef0ad2075682a4f5dfaee748ed8ba445668746
d7b06e52b96bc0e598c51d9a0695a2f7b40e2abc

The first commit removes files, the second adds a workaround for the Pi Zero W. Since the firmware-raspberrypi package is (essentially) pulled from the official RPI repo, should't this issue also appear here? Since it does not, I can only surmise that it has to do with files / configurations that ALARM has but RPI OS does not. Is it a conflict with upstream changes to the linux-firmware package?

I think the regression is with upstream linux-firmware. A fix for the RPi4B WiFi issue has been submitted upstream, but I am unaware of one for the Pi Zero. Files provided in firmware-raspberrypi supersede those provided by linux-firmware which is why providing the older files fix it. Upstream really needs to unfuck this. Someone with a Zero-W should open a bug report to facilitate this if there is not one open yet.
