Linux package versions are a bit behind

Postby nachobeez » Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:08 am

How come the vanilla kernels (like linux-armv7 or linux-aarch64) haven't been updated since March? They're one major version behind stable (5.12.y) now, not to mention the security patches. 5.11 is EOL.

Is it deliberate, or an issue with the developers' free time? After all using this project doesn't cost money

Yeah, and it's not just the kernels (they are still on 5.11), other core packages like glibc are also lagging behind (2.32-2 vs 2.33-5). Is Arch Linux ARM short on maintainers?

Is it just me or does the glibc commit messages say that it is being updated to 2.33, while the package itself stays at 2.32?

Guess I will try my luck with the git version :)
