[Resolved] LMMS Library Requirements

Postby ephreal » Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:04 pm

EDIT: A recent check shows that this has been resolved. Closing but keeping the information below.

I've encountered two issues with attempting to install/open lmms on armv7h. It looks like the library versions need to be updated, I'm not sure what the process is for requesting changes to packages, so this seemed like the natural place to record my issue.

When attempting to install LMMS, I'm told that the correct library version cannot be found.

The fix appears to be
1) Set the required version of libgig.so=11-64
2) Set the required version of libstk.=libstk-5.0.0

Here's the output from the initial install attempt.
sudo pacman -U lmms
loading packages...
resolving dependencies...
warning: cannor resolve "libgig.so=10-32, a dependence of "lmms"
warning: cannot resolve "libstk-4.6.2.so=libstk-4.6.2.so-32", a dependence of "lmms"
:: The following package cannot be upgraded due to unresolvable dependencies:
lmms
:: Do you want to skip the above package for this upgrade? [y/N] n
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: unable to satisfy dependency 'libgig.so=10-32' required by lmms
:: unable to satisfy dependency 'libstk-4.6.2.so=libstk-4.6.2.so-32' required by lmms
I verified that the library packages are installed, and noticed they provide a higher version of the libraries than called out in the dependencies
$ pacman -Qi libgig
# snipped output
Provides : libgig.so=11-32

$ pacman -Qi stk
# Snipped output again
Provides : libstk-5.0.0.so=libstk-5.0.0.so-32
I force installed lmms without dependency checks since it appears that the more recent versions of the library work on archlinux non-arm. When attempting to open lmms, I received a few errors about missing packages since I skipped dependency checks, but after manually installing the dependencies, lmms opened and works just fine.
