[RESOLVED] upgrading ancient sheeva

Postby replabrobin » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:47 am

I started upgrading my sheevaplug (was uptime 411 days). Pacman wanted to go first so I said yes. That seemed to work, but after the upgrade pacman refuses to run because librtmp.so.0 cannot be found. I used wget to obtain the rtmpdump package and handomatically installed usr/lib/librtmp.so.0 and then was able to use pacman -Uf rtmpdump-2.4-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz.

I can now use pacman -Syu, but it is asking me to choose a new kernel

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', ':: Replace kernel26 with core/linux? [Y/n]
:: Replace kernel26 with core/linux-mmp? [Y/n]')

what should I do here and what are these different kernels?

You're going to want just "linux", that the kirkwood package.

OK I had to pay special attention to the following packages

pcre filesystem dash util-linux libwbclient

because I needed to use -Syuf eventually and these packages some how either didn't get updated or wer only partially installed. However, I think that now I have the latest alarm installed. Thanks very much for all the effort.
