[Netatalk] not working after system update?

If I check the status, it shows this. Was working fine before I updated. Any ideas?

I checked the log file and there is this error repeating

Hi,
I was encountering the same issue after a system update. One of the dependencies must have been updated breaking the netatalk package provided in the aur repository for Raspberry Pi.

I juste reinstalled from the global AUR repository (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/netatalk/) and it is working for me now. Just follow the instruction here : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR and before running makepkg, edit the PKGBUILD file to replace the following line :
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'arch=('i686' 'x86_64')')
by
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'arch=('i686' 'x86_64' 'armv6h')')

Looks like libgcrypt update caused this. AUR packages are not updated when a library that they depend on is updated so it isn't updated with us as well unless it's done manually. When you see something like this happen you can submit an issue on github, or better yet submit a pull request. We can't check every single package.

The package should be rebuilt and in the repos soon.

I am having a related issue. I am trying to install netatalk from scratch. When I do makepkg -s I get:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...

Packages (3): dbus-glib-0.100.2-1 libevent-2.0.21-3 python-3.3.3-1

Total Installed Size: 81.47 MiB

libevent-2.0.21-3-armv6h 183.7 KiB 148K/s 00:01 [############################################################] 100%
error: failed retrieving file 'python-3.3.3-1-armv6h.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.archlinuxarm.org : The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found
warning: failed to retrieve some files')

It seems that the python dependency refers to version 3.3.3-1 while all of the mirrors I looked at are now on version 3.3.3-1.1 so of course 3.3.3-1 cannot be found. Is there anything I can edit to fix this or do I have to wait until something else is done?

Thanks.

your issue is completeletely unrelated and comes from the fact that you didn't sync before updating/installing. pacman -Sy

Thanks moonman for your quick response. Indeed as you said simply doing a sync solved the problem and I got netatalk installed properly. Is it a good practice then to sync before you do any installs? I looked at man pacman and it did not seem to come right out and say that.

I have only been using arch linux for a week or so. Still learning...

BTW netatalk works now but I think my afp.conf is not quite right as I cannot connect to my Raspberry Pi from my Mac yet although it shows up in the Finder under Shared. It worked fine under Raspbian wheezy so something is not quite right...

Thanks again.
