[ntpd] Ram usage

Postby jakethedog » Sat Jul 19, 2014 5:29 pm

Hi,
I'm using ntpd on my pogoplug and discovered that it uses a lot of ram (relativly).
pmap shows "total kB 14660" which is 11% of my total ram, in comparison ntpd on my old dockstar (with debian) uses only "total kB 5772".
In fairness they a different versions: ntpd 4.2.6p5@1.2349-o (debian), ntpd 4.2.7p446@1.2483-o (arch),
but 3 times the ram usage is a lot for such a basic functionality and I don't have ram to spare on my pogoplug.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Tobi

If someone's interested I switched to OpenNTP which only uses around 3.5mb of ram.
