Yeah the performance was terrible, although more or less usable. Probably something like running Win98 on a i486.

LOL that's funny emulating an emulator.

Now seriously, qemu-i386 is different story since it doesn't waste CPU cycles to emulate the whole machine. It only uses binary translation of CPU calls. So that would be pretty close to a regular x86 performance (I hope it doesn't use FPU, plugs don't have one. Or do they?).

Most plugs don't have a hardware (some do :p) FPU. But then, neither did a most i386 processors.
