tried clearing /usr/lib/modules/ and reinstalling the kernel and rebooting.

Still get the above when trying to load the xfs module.

Don't know what's causing this yet, but next kernel will have xfs and btrfs built in + enabled force module loading so you can modprobe -f <module> . Once loaded the modules do work.

Alright. Any idea when the next kernel might be ready?

I've been using an SDcard XFS partition for my /home/ mount in my utilite, so there's not much I can do with it until it's working again.

It's already in the repo linux-imx6-3.14.77 . The problem with loading some modules is still there, but you can force load a module now and xfs/btrfs is compiled into the kernel so no need to load modules for those.

Hi, sorry for highjacking this post. But same problem persists with cifs module in linux-imx6-3.14.77-1. Is there any workaround or a fix upcoming?

EDIT: found workaround:
Code: Select all
modprobe -f cifs

Now I know it is binutils 2.27 that's breaking the module loading on this kernel. binutis 2.26.1 works fine.

Here is the kernel compiled with the older version of binutils if somebody wants it:
Code: Select all

thx for your effort moonman, ive successfully installed your kernel on my utilite. cifs kernel module works fine after reboot and network shares are mounted automatically.

Is there any way to get this fixed upstream?

Upstream where? I don't know what's causing it. Mainlinre 3.14 works fine so it must be some freescale commit
