U-Boot Ethernet problems on GoFlex Net?

When I connected to my GoFlex Net for the first time with a serial cable, I was unable to use the existing U-Boot to TFTP anything to the device (new U-Boot or kernel). I would always get checksum failures from the tftpboot command.

I was able to work around this by booting into the Cloud Engines kernel, where the network worked fine, and then flashing a new U-Boot, in which the Ethernet now also works fine. So I suspect an old and buggy U-Boot was the problem. Has anyone else seen this?
