Failing Uboot on v1 pogoplug

Sort of a newbie at this...I searched the forums, and there seems to be some similar problems, but I'm not really clear on how to resolve it.
I'm trying to install the bootloader on my pogoplug (model# 003-SP1001) using the guide here http://Arch Linux ARM.com/index.php5/Official ... ug_V2_Pink but I'm getting this error:

# Validating existing uBoot...

I'm wary of going with the no-uboot-check option. Thoughts? Help?
