Which plug has best performance compiling kernel?

Postby bodhi » Wed Apr 04, 2012 12:06 am

Guys,

I'm wondering, in your experience which plug has the best performance when your main activity on that box is to build kernel, optimize kernel, coding, testing, ... ?

- Pogoplug Pro, with SATA
- Pogoplug V2, with USB-connect SATA
- GoFlex Net/Home, with SATA

Seems like there are trade-offs that make one is better and worse than the others (e.g. memory, multi-core, fast storage)?

GoFlex Nets are what I use. Best performance out of the lot in my opinion.

Thanks kmihelich! I've suspected that's the answer, but it's reassuring that it is confirmed by you. Probably the 256MB RAM of the Pogoplug V2 does not make up for the slow disk!
