compiling u-boot

Discussion about U-Boot and the kernel.

compiling u-boot

Can anyone say if the base-devel package supports building a new uboot.kwb? I see some discussion about using tool chains to do this here and in particular pingtoo says that some toolchains aren't completely successful. I would like to see if the "source" command can be compiled in as I think that would make loading from usb etc etc much easier, ie you can run a script from the usb rather than hand entering all the commands.

With some minor 'ln -s'ing, yes, it can be done. I'm working on the pp pro's uboot from inside a chroot, building with just base-devel and the existing toolchains.

Not sure why I would need the symbolic links; does the u-boot build make some unusual assumptions about where stuff is?

In some cases, it is looking for a specific library by name, as in the case of the u-boot sources released by Pogoplug for the Pro.

In other cases, you're likely to have fewer (many) problems.
