u-boot: how to reduce image size

Hi,
I'm using u-boot-2013.07 for mx28evk platform. The output binary image amounts up to 450K.
I'm trying to fit it in 256K or less space but I cannot get.
I eliminated unnecessary commands and drivers but the size remains always the same (450K)
Any help will be welcomed
