No /dev/snd/seq?

Postby gilz » Wed Sep 03, 2014 6:28 pm

Hi, I'm running Arch ARM on the BeagleBone Black.

/dev/snd/seq does not exist, and I'm wondering if the snd-seq ALSA module is included in this kernel.

The reason I am wondering is because I'm trying to receive MIDI information from a USB MIDI keyboard that I have connected to the BeagleBone.

aseqdump and aconnect -i give me:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
MIDI (ALSA): could not open ALSA sequencer: No such file or directory')

And modprobe snd-seq gives me:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'FATAL: Module snd-seq not found.')

Sure enough I found that /dev/snd/seq does not exist.

I'm just wondering if this is expected.

Thanks

Thank you. So, follow up question...

I'm guessing if I want this enabled, I need to compile the kernel myself with CONFIG_SND_SEQUENCER set?

Or put in a PR with it, it's a simple change. You could raise an issue (follow the guidelines) as well.
