Arch arm on touchbook

Postby roel » Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:00 pm

Hello,

I got arch arm on my touchbook running with the original AI-kernel 2.6.32. It doesn't work with the uImage and u-boot from the beagleboard as AI patched the kernel and U-boot:

http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/in ... trom_stuff

and more through:

http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/in ... chitecture

As I want to use the benefits of the hard-float repo, I think I should recompile the kernel, or not?

If so:

- Can I recompile the ai-kernel to hard-float
- What do I have to do to get a hard-float kernel? Do I need to patch or just use different flags?
- Which kernel tree is Arch Arm using, the 'tmlind' version or a arch-arm patched mainline kernel?
- does somebody have experience with the 'tmlind'-kernel, as it seems it has different version, such as touchbook, pandora, zoom, beagle, etc.

As it seems I'm the only one with a touchbook here, so I don't want to bother the devs here to build me a kernel (I know what it is to have little spare time), so I will try to build a kernel myself. I'm used to build a kernel on a x86 linux system so I don't think it will be much harder for a OMAP board.

Thanks a lot.

OK,

I tried to build a kernel with a PKGBUILD but I got error messages about my PKGBUILD regarding I need a armv7 extension. I used the PKGBUILD from the imx53 but changed the source and cheksum.
The I tries to build it with a normal make command, and this one gave constantely error messages.

No I'm trying with cross-compiling with the code-sourcery toolchain but get again constantly error messages. It's like that kernel doesn't want to compile...

Could you post the errors you're getting? Wrap them in a code tag if it's a lot.
