HTC Flyer

Postby killersiller » Fri Jul 27, 2012 8:16 pm

I recently picked up an HTC Flyer to use for note taking and as a textbook reader during classes.

Those unfamiliar with the Flyer simply need to know it has a Snapdragon processor and an N-trig digitzer, which means it uses an active pen!

The Nexus One seems to use similar hardware, so I'm looking at this:

I'm wanting to boot Archlinux Arm and Plasma Active on this thing. Basically making it a glorified Vivaldi/Spark. Hopefully I can get the pen to work, and be able to use linux note apps. If I'm liking it enough, I may never boot back into Android.

Anyway; I'll try to chronicle my attempt here, and maybe someone can help steer me. If anyone has any tips right off the bat, that will be helpful. The biggest thing I'm seeing is a lack of n-trig drivers, though they claim Linux drivers exist.

Step 1: Look at an Arch ARM chroot. Easy enough.

Step 2: Look at HTC's kernel

They offer kernels on their website:

They list 2.6.35 for the Flyer.
