$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'M')y home office was hit by a tree a while back.

An acquaintance of mine once said the same about his car. This is why you shouldn't work when drunk!

Thanks for any and all effort you put into this project. I just purchased a NSA325 a few weeks ago and cant wait until I can put debian on it to really open this bad boy up. In the meantime I have FFP on it.

Thanks again and good luck with your house/tree situation. :(

The house/tree is mostly cleared up and I have picked up a Bus Pirate, so we'll get this punk figured out as soon as I have the free time to dig into it full bore.

Hi all,

I just got myself a NSA325, and have been playing around with it for a week now.
Just like SomeoneOnLine I currently use FFP, but find it all somewhat lacking...

A Couple of questions (no expert here):
I read through the entire thread, and some people were talking about booting from USB.
As far as I have found, I can not find any information about this??
Is that some sort of dual-boot option (no usb = original firmware)??
I do not seem to have watchdog (just updated to firmware NSA325_4.61(AAAJ.1))
(I ran dmesg/grep/ps, looking for "wdog" and "watchdog" without results)
I also do not care about the USB3 port not working (or any USB ports for that matter)
Does this mean I can use the "ArchLinux-nsa320-alarm" tarball, and start installing?
If I can indeed start installing, are there any changes to be made to the files in the tarball,
or anything I should do differently/watch out for during installation?

Thanks,
Albert

[Edit]
- Deleted stupid post
- Decided to "just go for it". A lot of changes mentioned in this thread seem to already be in place.
[Edit 2]
Ok...
- Extracted tarball to FAT formatted USB stick
- Added the "rootfs.tgz" file
- Shut down NAS, put USB in front socket, Powered up
- Nothing happened. (besides the NAS booting up)
Am I missing something?
[Edit 3]
I let my NSA325 take it from behind.
The left-side port gives the USB-stick more pleasure, and I'm installing as I type...

Maybe the NSA325 likes it better from behind. lol.

Just curious as to the status of your efforts. Where you able to get debian installed or any other info you can share?

Thanks,

The NSA325's front USB3 is attached via PCIe, and is not usable for uboot.

Debian? We're on the ArchLinux forums...

Anyway, it failed.
The NAS won't boot, only the blue power-led lights up, and I can hear the harddrives "click" every few minutes.
I'm currently making myself a serial cable...
