Marvell Orion Kernel [3.2.1-1][repo]

Postby billyburly » Sun Jul 24, 2011 9:16 pm

I have compiled a kernel that boots on Marvell Orion devices. I have put the associated PKGBUILD and other files up on the archlinuxarm github. Also have made a repo with the kernel packages and one necessary package built from AUR.

Repo (linux-orion, linux-headers-orion, devio)
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[linux-orion]
Server = http://repo.billyburly.com/linux-orion')

3.2.1-1
linux-orion
linux-headers-orion

3.1.7-2
linux-orion
linux-headers-orion

3.0.3-1
linux-orion
linux-headers-orion

2.6.39.3-1
Files needed to build
kernel26-orion package
kernel26-headers package

I think this could be an appropriate kernel for my LG-NAS, ARM926EJ-S rev 0 (v5l), or Feroceon (not Feroceon-KW).

Am I right? or is Orion comething else? The chip is 88FS 5281.

The marvell orion is used in the following (according to the linux kernel):
Marvell Orion-2 Development Board
Marvell Orion-NAS Reference Design
Buffalo Linkstation Pro/Live
Buffalo/Revogear Kurobox Pro
Buffalo Terastation Pro II/Live
Buffalo Linkstation Mini
Buffalo Linkstation LS-HGL
D-Link DNS-323
QNAP TS-109/TS-209
QNAP TS-409
Linksys WRT350N v2
HP Media Vault mv2120
LaCie Ethernet Disk mini V2
LaCie Big Disk Network
LaCie d2 Network
LaCie 2Big Network
Maxtor Shared Storage II
Netgear WNR854T
Marvell Orion-VoIP GE Reference Design
Marvell Orion-VoIP FXO Reference Design
Marvell Orion-1-90 AP GE Reference Design
Buffalo Linkstation LiveV3 (LS-CHL)

Although from doing some research, the Orion chips are from the same family as the Feroceon chips. So it is possible that it would work.

I could not find any thing on the Marvell website, except a couple of old press releases that mention Orion. The functionality of my LG-NAS looks very much like the Network Storage example on http://www.marvell.com/processors/embed ... ations.jsp.

There is an Orion website, http://www.orionserver.com/ where you can download development tools that use Java. I have not tried it.

I think the developer(s) of the LG-NAS used Orion. The tftp environment is set at rootpath=/opt/Orion-SDK/arm/, with serverip a typical 192.168. . private address.
