Support for $129 ODROID 1.4GHz Quad core

Postby wasswart » Thu Jul 12, 2012 7:14 am

Hi,

Is there any support planned for this device:

http://hardkernel.com/renewal_2011/main.php

It is the same as what the new Samsung Galaxy S3 uses.
Would be great if Arch can be ported to this.

If our developers had our hands on one, we'd be glad to support it.

According to the following, Arch ARM already supports this MB. Is this correct?

Well we developers don't have one yet, so it is not official. Maybe a community member?

Hopefully we'll be getting a couple of them mid August. They should be relatively easy to bring up as well.

Thanks, that sounds very promising. :D
I think at that price and performance, those are going to be very popular.
I have ordered one as well.

Would be great if any related news could be posted to this thread – I also ordered one (but the shipping date is still more than a week out).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'W')e received shipping notices today.

Thanks, good news, mine is on the way as well :D

The only caveat seems to be the Mali-400 GPU driver. Sounds as if it is included in the Android BSP, and the supplier is trying to get a X11 driver for Ubuntu going in the next couple of weeks. Then there is the Lima effort http://limadriver.org who are trying to reverse engineer a driver for this GPU.

I assume it would initially be running on Arch without graphics acceleration until an X11 driver becomes available?
Any thoughts on the GPU driver?
