iMX53 broken with Linux 3.2.1-1 ?

Postby minimal » Mon Oct 08, 2012 10:15 pm

Hi,

I finally got around to updating my iMX53 board, and the 3.2.1-1 kernel loads from the drive, but fails to boot any further after decompressing.

Has anyone else seen this ?

Does anyone have the previous 3.1 kernel kicking around they can let me have ?

My filesystem is fully backed up to my Pogo, *apart* from the /boot partition... Sigh.

Any help would be kost grateful (am I missing a .dtb load in my uBoot ?)

Thanks,
Ian.

I didn't think that 3.2 moved to dt requirement yet. Check `ls /var/cache/pacman/pkg/linux-*` for an older copy of the kernel.

Brilliant !

Thank you ! :D

There was indeed a 3.1.1-2 kernel in my cache which boots up again nicely, and has saved me spending all night trying to get a junk x86 machine running just to serve the files and keep my email flowing.

On a secondary note, was it expected that the iMX53 support would change/break like this ? Is there anything I can or should be doing to help out and/or validate new kernels so that Arch can continue with the iMX53 as well as the newer iMX6 ?

Thanks,
Ian.

We are working with a few Nitrogen6X boards that are imx6 quad. I can't say I expected it to outright take a crap like that. It may be a latent bug in uboot similar to the problem that happened on kirkwoods.

Ok, thanks - I'm hoping to get an iMX6 board soon: if that works out then I'll see what I can do to get the iMX53 kernel builds back in shape again. Just need to get more comfortable with Arch builds (vanilla Linux is no problem).

Thanks,
Ian.
