Kindle 4 installation

Postby pepijndevos » Sat Oct 13, 2012 7:00 pm

Using the sticky Android guide, I was able to get a chroot on my jailbroken Kindle.

However, running pacman -Syu breaks out of the chroot: http://pastebin.com/2V6ZF1rn

[edit] I can reproduce this on my laptop using qemu: http://pastebin.com/CybubRni

The image is also from before the systemd and usrlib change :(

If I get this working, a next step could be to compile a kernel and use fastboot to have a native Arch installation. Are there any guides on how to do this?

The Kindle 4 is apparently ARMv7h.

Were you successful with this? I'm curious because I have a Kindle 5 and would like to get Arch running on it. I'm sure you know about this forum: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=150. I do believe some users have Debian running on it, but because of the Kindle's hardware, they use the Kindle's kernel. I would really love to see Arch russing on the Kindle 5. Has anyone been working on it?
