J1nx does a crowdfunding to open up the AMlogic8726 -M3 boxes. If he buys 500 of them they will open source the drivers of it.

Peter posted in his blog that Amlogic released an updated kernel sources and also the uboot sources.

I'm no developer but I'm guessing this probably will help bringing linux to these cheap chinese devices.
