ArchLinux on LG N1A1

In case anyone cares, I have ArchLinux installed on the internal drive on an LG N1A1 NAS ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822319017 )

The unit comes with a 1.0 Ghz Marvell Kirkwood SoC / 128MB RAM / 512KB Macronix flash.

First off, I soldered a CA-42 to the board for serial console. The stock configuration has UBoot using 527 for the machid; however, the version of UBoot (1.1.4) supports the arcNumber variable so I overrode it to 2202 (Lacie netspace, which has similar hardware).

Built a mainline kernel from the 3.7.1 sources. The machine booted up after several config tweaks but no joy on the serial console. The console would stop working almost as soon as Uboot handed over execution to the kernel.

Looked around and turned out the UART was being initialized too late; moved it up before everything else and got the serial console working as well.

Pulled out the original HDD and put it in a 'real' NAS (RAID support), replaced it with another older/smaller/expendable one I had lying around.

Added a set of Rosewill USB speakers (http://www.rosewill.com/products/1510/P ... erview.htm) and configured mpd.

Then configured samba/apache...

Next up : Just for kicks, writing FDT support for the board but this is likely to take some time...

If there is sufficient interest, I may write the above in more detail.
