Odroid-u2 image of Jun 27 2013

Postby suriyan » Fri Jun 28, 2013 12:40 am

Hi,
I just downloaded the Odroid-u2 image (I guess it was just put out). The Ethernet port is not working in this image. Anyone else noticed that?

Thanks

My 16Gb card just crapped out, thinks it's only 32Mb, can do nothing with it, plus it's really hot to the touch, so can't burn.
Is it just the ethernet? you have serial and can log in?
Want to try my img to see if it gets you out of trouble?

I'm experiencing the same problem with the 3.8-Kernel. The Ethernet port isn't working and the device gets quite hot. unfortunately I neither have an serial cable...

Thanks guys for the responses!
From what I recall there were no modules loaded - hence, no ethernet. On manually loading using modprobe smsc95xx i could see in dmesg an error which I do not recall. I can recreate it and report back if needed.

Fortunately, I had an older ArchLinuxARM-odroid-u-latest.img with me which works well, and I did a pacman -Syu and upgraded to the u2 3.8 kernel (which works)

Wonder if zImage was moved from boot/ of second partition to first partition?

You are absolutely right! (pepedog)

I checked zImage /boot on the vfat and in teh second partition and they were different. I copied over the one from rootfs to teh first partition and all is well! - All modules are loaded and ethernet/usb works.

Possibly the image needs to be corrected.

I can only agree with Suriyan, USB/ethernet everything seems to work as it should.

The only problem i'm currently experiencing is that if you connect the emmc module and a sd-card (sd-card = /home directory), it won't boot at all. Do you have any ideas / solutions for this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Hi SonicY3k,
I do not have an eMMC module and hence do not know.

I am assuming that you flashed the image on the eMMC module. I wonder if anybody has tried this. BTW, why dont you just get a cheap 1.8V UART TTL module. It makes life so much easier!
BTW, if the 1.8 V are expensive just get a 3.3 or a 5 V module (available for as low as 3 $ with free shipping in ebay) and buy a logic level shifter from sparkfun (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8745) - another 2 $, and possibly some wires and connectors and you are good to go.
