How to update SMILE plug (pacman -Syu)

Postby lharmon » Mon Jul 29, 2013 7:01 pm

I have been trying to update the SMILEplug software using pacman -Syu without success. I need help!

I understand that manual intervention is required (according to the ArchLinux news).
However I am unable to follow the instructions on the SMILE plug.

https://www.archlinux.org/news/binaries ... ervention/

When I try the first command "pacman -Qqo /bin /sbin /usr/sbin | pacman -Qm -"
The SMILE plug reboots!!!

"pacman -Syu --ignore filesystem,bash" fails.

Has anyone been able to update the SMILE plug?

The SMILE software image is pretty old, missing a few large system updates. However, that's what currently works with the SMILE software load, so it's staying that way for the moment. I'm working on a complete update for the system, including moving to a mainline kernel. Once a few final pieces get merged into mainline, that rootfs and new installation instructions will be posted.

Hi, I finally managed to boot from the SD-card, but had to flash the kernel to the internal flash anyway (probably an error in the SD-card I used).

Now I see that I can't access the internal 1GB of flash - but that is too bad, as it would come in handy - what is the proper kernel-configuration for accessing the smile-plugs internal flash-memory?

The new kernels do not have NAND capability at the moment. The work being done to bring this support to the mainline kernel currently doesn't have an ETA.

Just in case somebody looks at this thread. Smileplug-configs have been moved to:
