Beaglebone Black and slow wireless with USB adapter

Postby cdr » Mon May 13, 2013 10:06 pm

I recently got a Beaglebone Black up and running with a new Arch install. I've got an Edimax ew-7811un that I'm using to connect to wireless successfully through the rtl8192cu driver. The problem is that the connection is inadequate for anything beyond painfully slow ssh sessions over LAN. I am able to get a much faster connection via ethernet and I am using an external 5V 2.5A power source, so I assume that the problem is with the driver and/or adapter.

Does anyone have any advice for improving the throughput of an adapter that uses the rtl8192cu driver, or even more specifically the Edimax ew-7811un?

I'm having the same problem. SSH is unbearably slow when using wireless.
