Can't get picture with HDMI

i was not willing to blame the cable as the same cable works for my ps3. I will bring my pi and cable to my parents house to try my cable on my dads tv(since i know the pi works on that one) and see if it is the cable anyways...

ok now i know it's not the cable since the same cable i am trying to use at home worked with my dads tv.....

Sounds like its your tv.
Take your dads tv and swap it with your own (don't tell him)

If you look at the /boot/config.txt file, Uncomment one at a time, sensible hdmi_mode settings, reboot to take effect.
One must work.
